About SMARTS
SMARTS began when three teachers were brainstorming an anagram that would capture the spirit of a fundraising art exhibition for the Molong P & C. Ms Vis came up with “SMARTS,” a playful twist on the word “smart.”
The first SMARTS exhibition was created to showcase our new professional art-hanging system engineered with grant funding and a little help from the Molong Men’s Shed. In 2018, we celebrated the last eight years of High School Visual Arts students from Molong and surrounding high schools, and it was a huge success!
Opened by Bradley Hammond, Director of the Orange Regional Gallery, the event drew a crowd of over two hundred people.
Since then, the SMARTS team has faced a couple of false starts thanks to COVID, but we are back focused on building sustainable practices to ensure this biennial selling exhibition thrives for years to come.
